Call in sick. I can't work in the rain anyway.

Wait to see if the boss texts me to cancel.

Show up to the yard/site on time, ready to work unless told otherwise.

5. You notice a post is 5mm out of plumb, but the fence is almost done. What do you do? *

Leave it. "Near enough is good enough."

Ask the foreman if they think it matters.

Fix it. My name is on this work and I don't build crooked fences.

6. You finish a task early and the foreman is busy on the phone. What do you do? *

Lean on the shovel and check my phone until he's done.

Wait nearby in case he needs me.

Clean up the site, organize the trailer, or prep for the next task.

7. How do you handle company tools at the end of a hard day? *

Throw them in the truck; we can sort them out tomorrow.

Put them in the box, but leave the cleaning for the apprentice.

Clean them, check for damage, and pack them organized for the next day.

8. The foreman pulls you up on a mistake you made. How do you react? *

Get defensive. I know what I’m doing.

Listen quietly, even if I disagree.

Own it, fix it immediately, and make sure I don't make that mistake again.

9. We are pouring concrete and need to stay 30 minutes late to finish the job properly. *

I clock off at 3:30 PM. Not my problem.

I’ll stay if I am guaranteed overtime pay.

I dig in and help the crew finish the job strong. We don't leave a job half-done.

10. Site safety rules (PPE) can sometimes feel annoying. What’s your take? *

I only wear it if the safety officer is looking.

I follow them just to avoid fines.

I follow them strictly. I want to go home in one piece.
